Full course description
This course was developed to be the next step after passing the Part 107 exam and teaches fundamental UAS flight skills. The course is online and self-paced. Flight skills are taught with a state-of-the-art flight simulator. The simulator approximates the physics of more than a dozen of the most common commercial drones. Using the simulator allows students to gauge distances and learn how close they can fly to obstructions without the worry of damaging an aircraft. A number of UAS operational skills are also taught such as checking FAA airspace, creating autonomous missions and filing FAA Part 107 waivers. This course does not include preparation for the Part 107 exam or 3D mapping. Those interested in that are encouraged to take the Applied Drone Technology course. The Applied Drone Technology course teaches the digital fight skills included with this class and is also online.
Students can complete the course at their own speed over a 10-week period. A comprehensive library of videos and written instructions are provided to teach the material. Those who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.
This course requires access to a smart device and a PC or Mac computer. Microsoft Windows 7/8 or 10 or Mac OX x 10.8 or higher. Intel Core i7 @ 3.6 GHz CPU or equivalent. 8 GB of Ram. 2 GB available in hard disk. Direct x 9.3 or higher compatible graphics card.
