Full course description
This course will allow drone pilots to enhance their flight skills and help them become a safe and competent commercial remote aviator. Various flight exercises, including those outlined in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) testing protocol, will be set up to teach critically important piloting skills.
No significant experience is required. Students will be provided a UAS or are welcome to use their own equipment. No custom aircraft please.
Schedule and Location
After enrollment, you will be contacted to schedule the training. Training occurs Monday – Friday. Location will be in the Clemson area.
General Outline of Activities
8:30am: Arrive on flight training facilities
8:30am - 9:00am: Introduction, Orientation, Safety Discussion and Pre-flight Checklists
9:00am - 10:00am: Basic Controls
10:00am - 11:00am: NIST Protocol Maneuvers Part 1
11:00am - 12:00pm: Waypoint Assisted Flights for Photogrammetry
12:00pm - 1:00pm: Self-Guided Lunch
1:00pm - 2:00pm: NIST Protocol Maneuvers Part 2
2:00pm - 3:00pm: Student Choice / Games
3:00pm - 3:30pm: Debrief / After Action Review
